As I draw the curtains on my 30 Days, a Song and a Poem, I am posting a poem I wrote a while ago, and rewrote to share with my readers. This last poem, ‘I Sing’, is a beautiful way to end the month as a mark of gratitude to the King of kings and the Lord of all the heavens and the earth. I thank everyone who has taken the time to read my poems. Even though I am the writer of these poems, each of them has blessed me.
‘I Sing’ carries a deep message for every believer in Christ. I know it can seem difficult to praise God in times of trouble, but we must continue to sing and give Him the honour and all the glory He is due.
***
I sing, string and sing
Of my Saviour’s love for me
I sing as I march into the land of rest
I strum the chords and sing a new song
Of victory, a song of deliverance
I play the drums and dance to honour the Lord.
I sing, not because I cannot see
The trials and troubles before me
I sing not because I cannot feel the pain
But I sing because He is with me, Emmanuel
He’s ever-present, going through the tides with me
Offering me a hand and many words of assurance and comfort.
Times may be rough, and life may be unbearable
Still, I sing of gracious days ahead
And with a thankful heart,
I can sing; God’s with me.
