From Then to Now…

Months ago, I posted about my Short Stories collection. It’s almost here. Paulina’s Thorns will be released on November 25, 2024, and I am excited to share some news about the book.

About Paulina’s Thorns.

A modern tale with refreshing and relatable stories adapted from the Bible

Set in semi-rural Akwa Ibom State, “Paulina’s Thorns,” a collection of twelve faith-filled stories will usher you into the intriguing world of men and women who encountered Andiyanga, the Messiah. Amidst the helplessness of life’s gruelling challenges, Andiyanga changes their lives forever.

“The author’s retelling of Jesus’ miracles is exciting and relatable. Readers will be stirred up to believe again as the engaging stories deftly convey what it would feel like to encounter the Messiah in today’s world and situations.” — Udeme Anosike

“These stories are faith boosters for our day.” – Reader.

Paulina’s Thorns and Shorts are modern retellings of some of Jesus’ Miracles. The author brings ancient stories to modern light in a refreshing, exciting, and down-to-earth way. Through the short stories in this book, she brings Bible characters to life and makes them relatable and personable, like you and me. Like a step-down transformer, she shows us that the miracles Jesus did in yesteryears are available for us here and now.”

Before Meets After…

I made this old cover for my collection using designs on Canva and Poster My Wall. Then, I got a designer to make the new cover, and he tried to recreate some aspects of the former.

The cover is very symbolic and I will try to explain a few.

  1. Using nature, we try to depict God’s creation.
  2. A contemplative woman is facing a river. Unlike the old, the woman in the new wears plaited hair. The woman depicts the different female characters in this collection. Each of these women received salvation and deliverance from Jesus.
  3. The boats and stream reflect some aspects of the story and the setting. In the Bible, Jesus went across towns and villages on a boat. We also know that some of His disciples were professional fishermen.
  4. The village setting reflects the semi-rural town in the story. Jesus went from city to city, village to village healing and saving people.
  5. The orange map around the sun is the map of Akwa Ibom State. It is quite symbolic of the things the Lord is doing and seeks to do among my people and beyond. “… the Sun of righteousness has come with healing in its rays(Malachi 4:2).” And “God has come to his people and redeemed them. (Luke 1:68)”
  6. The Lord is interested in redeeming and healing cities, villages and towns and making them great. There is nothing too hard for Him.
