This week has been quite an eventful (and trying) one — from facing a “Facebook jail for a crime” I didn’t commit to other personal challenges. Huh! Right. Honestly, I felt these challenges pushing me toward the familiar path of worry. But I snapped out of it as the scriptures reminded me not to fear or worry.
While teaching a sermon on the mountain, Jesus instructed his disciples and the crowd, saying, “Do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough troubles of its own.” As believers in Christ, we will always face daunting issues — some small and other big problems that try to weigh us down. These life issues may try to push us off the cliff while others wrestle with us tirelessly in a boxing ring. But we must not fear. We must continue to believe in One who can deliver and save us from all life’s battles.
So how do we approach these battles?
Remember, we are at war and must win every engagement. We gain spiritual fortitude through fighting on God’s side, preparing us for upcoming challenges. As we win more battles, we grow stronger and more capable of conquering the larger obstacles in our way. We learn perseverance and endurance. We build godly character and faith.
Remember, believers in Christ must fight with God’s tools – righteousness, peace and joy. Fight, using the word of God and prayer. Pray always. Pray about every issue out of your control. Cast the small and big burdens and troubles at the feet of Jesus. Interestingly, he has the answers and solutions to everything, even technology.
Fight on the side of love, truth and obedience. Arm yourself with the word. Know it. Speak it. Declare it. Walk by faith. Also, use the word of God as a weapon to defeat the enemy and his lies.
Maintain a thankful attitude at all times: List the things God has done in the past, recalling every battle he has fought for you. Ward off the urge to grumble. Do not allow self-pity and depression in your space.
In conclusion, I will share a poem I wrote a few weeks back. I hope it blesses your heart.
Garments
Wear the three-piece suit of praise
Wear a thank-full-top and a praise-proof jacket for the windy day
against the gust of sorrow and world issues, blowing wild dust
Hold tight
hold tight to your suit
and say it is well
Thank you merciful Father for today.
