HAIL the king (a poem and notes)

HAIL

Hail to the king with a diadem and royal robe

Hail to the lion of Judah

Hail the lamb seated on the throne

You are the king of all men, hallelujah!

You watched men deride as you carried the cross

You watched them spit and beat you,

You watched the mock salute

You watched them divide your clothes and cast lots

They dared you to come down, save yourself

They derided you, challenged you to yield your powers

You said, ‘Father, forgive them. None know how ignorant they were.’

They inscribed above your head, the king

Outside the gates, you hung

Father forsook you for a moment

You cried.

In the sixth hour, darkness covered the earth.

And you gave a last cry

One man saw and believed. He said,

‘You’re truly the son of God.’

You gave it up for us

You died, you rose, you triumphed over sin and death

 to save mankind.

*This post below was titled, IT IS FINISHED on Facebook and was first posted in April 2011. As I stumbled on it yesterday, I recalled my conversations of the past few days about the powerful and awesome work Jesus did for me.

Thank God for reminding me that Jesus paid the ultimate price and no form of human striving and “flexing muscle” can pay the price again. It’s relieving to know that it’s not by works lest I boast but GRACE….
Thank God Jesus is alive forever and will never die yearly because he did it ONCE-for-all-time many years ago. So it is finished forever, Hallelujah!

I’m not particularly given to Easter celebrations though the period serves as a reminder of the finished work on Calvary. Easter assuredly ignites the reason we live and that reason is Christ – but it’s more than a Friday to Sunday in March or April to celebrate that reason.

Jesus forgave all my sins and took them upon himself, covering me with His love. He is the gold and I am the wood–he blurs all my weaknesses with perfection- which is decked up into a beautiful piece of furniture decked with purple, gold, and priestly(Kingly) apparel.

By the power of resurrection, Jesus gave me access to the Father, and I am alive with Him who forgave my sins once and for all time and still forgives when I make silly mistakes. Anytime Satan strolls by to dig up my past or cook up lies to sway me again into bondage, I’m reminded that Jesus cancelled the record that contained the charges against me taking it and nailing it to Christ’s cross.

When the devil rises like a flood, Jesus reminds me that He disarmed the evil authorities and rulers and made a public shame by victory over them on the cross. So I AM FREE no longer bound nor captive. Because of the blood of Christ, I am brought near to God. I have peace with the Father. I am an heir to the throne with rights to the estate.

Now, I won’t wait for another Easter to grab this truth or wait till then to read the accounts on the night of Passover, his death and resurrection. I will always celebrate the cross daily because that’s a sure symbol of my faith in Christ.
