PsalmSongspiration: Character

Character

You are

A partaker in the finished work

Kingdom-minded, slow to anger

Filled with an overflow of Love

Coursing through your pulse,

Bubbling in the veins.

You are

Patient, gentle, and kind

A reflection of God, righteous and wise,

Separated from the dark, one with the light.

So be on guard, watch, and pray.

You are the Lord’s.

Wordspiration

Adapted from Psalms 15, 24:3–5, 101; Isaiah 33:15; Galatians 5:22; and Ephesians 4.

“Live such good lives among the pagans that, though they accuse you of doing wrong, they may see your good deeds and glorify God on the day he visits us.” – 1 Peter 2:12 (NIV)

Our character must reflect the One we belong to. The world should look at us and see Jesus, not because we seek to impress them, but because we live for the Lord. We are in the world, but not of it. Our nature is different; our fruit is different. Like those first disciples in Antioch, we are called “Christians” because we are like Christ.

Jesus taught in the Sermon on the Mount that our light must shine, not as a display of power or religiosity, but through a life marked by meekness, mercy, purity, peacemaking, and perseverance. Our closeness with Him will always show in how we live.

We are partakers of His finished work. We are kingdom-minded, slow to anger, filled with love, patient, gentle, and kind. This is not fiction. This is who we are becoming. We must be vigilant—watching, praying, and walking in step with the Spirit. A holy life is not outdated. It is our witness in a rebellious culture.

So, let us be different. Let us be His.

Prayer
Father God, help me live a life that reflects You. May I strip off the old nature and put on the new character found in Christ. Let my life shine as a true reflection of your light. May those around me testify that I am yours, not just in word, but in the way I live. In Jesus’ name, amen.
