The Greatest poet of all time

The Lord is a poet. Yes! (Did you raise your brows? Please, read on!)

God was and is still the first poet — not the Mesopotamian poet or any other in history — whose words give life and hope to man.

The Bible, the inspired word of God, has several poetic elements. A writer says, “Most of the Hebrew prophets wrote masterful poems.”

The songs/words of Miriam, Moses, the children of Israel, Hannah, Deborah, Mary and Zechariah, etc, were prophetic (poetic) renditions, conveying God’s deliverance, victory, salvation, and His eternal purposes on the earth.

Some major and minor prophets delivered their messages in a poetic style. Their words still brought judgment, restoration, hope and so much more among God’s people.

David and the other authors of the Psalms rendered the Psalms in poetic form. Recently, I read Psalm 111 NLT, and in the footnote, the writer described the Psalm as “a Hebrew acrostic poem; after the introductory note of praise, each line begins with a successive letter of the Hebrew alphabet.”

It’s worthy of note that these men and women wrote words/songs inspired by the Almighty God, the greatest of all poets.

Is there anything we need (songs, odes, iambic metres, rhymes, etc?) we won’t find in Him? None! His word is “life to those who find them and health to their bones.”

I am sharing two God-inspired poems with you today. May every word bless your heart.

Psalm-Song

See what the Lord did in our favour,

the miracles he performed for us

He opened a wide path through the sea,

we crossed to the other side

We sing praises to you, Lord

You have led the way, shielded us from behind,

protecting us from dark times

The sun didn’t scorch us

Father, we bask in your love.

Teach us, your disciples, to

follow your decrees

Continue to

guide, direct,

tell us what to do

So we might walk in your footsteps all day.
