The pen, the life
My ink is a river—washing clean a drowning mind,
Every dot is a messenger calling souls from the grave
Words of hope, scribbled on leaves,
Bringing peace to a dampened heart
My words will dig through beautiful memories
And awaken dead dreams
My words will mend the brokenhearted
And point them towards peace
My words will fetch joy and gladness
From the springs of living waters
My words will magnify hope,
Giving the faint-hearted a reason to hold on
My words will bring light beyond the spectrum
The blind will see colours unheard of
My words will set free the souls of men—
Breaking shackles, unbinding love.
The deaf will hear the truth—melting wax from their ears
The blind will touch my words and receive sight
Every word will be like honey to bitter trials,
Flavour to a tasteless life
These alphabets will flow into the weak like strength,
The wretched will find cover in the shade of each letter
The parched tongues will drink their fill from my ink
Come, find comfort, and a soothing nudge
To rise and go.
Wordspiration
This poem echoes the heart of biblical writers like David, Solomon, and Isaiah, who understood the power of words.
Words are not just sounds or ink on a page—they carry spirit and life (John 6:63). God created the world with words, and through Scripture, He continues to heal, correct, encourage, and revive. The Psalms, in particular, are a balm for weary hearts—words that give hope, mend brokenness, and anchor souls in God’s faithfulness.
As Psalm 45:1 says, “My tongue is the pen of a ready writer.” Isaiah 50:4 reminds us that God gives us “the tongue of the learned” to speak timely words to the weary. And Proverbs tells us that our words carry the weight of life and death (Prov. 18:21), and can be like “cold water to a thirsty soul” (Prov. 25:25).
Let us choose to speak life. May our words be healing streams—reviving dreams, strengthening the faint, and leading souls back to the God of peace.
Prayer
Father, thank you for the gift of words. Let my tongue be guided by your Spirit. May my words bring hope, healing, and truth to those who hear.
Season my speech with grace. Teach me when to speak, how to comfort, and when to correct in love. May every syllable I release carry your light and life. In Jesus’ name, amen.
